Diploma of Leadership

SUBJECT OUTLINES

  • Go deeper in God’s word with a thorough survey of the Bible. Taken in two units over the whole year, students will read through the entire Bible either individually or in groups. The lectures and assessments will focus on the books, authors, general themes, concepts, historical concepts and unifying theology of the Old and New Testaments. Students will be equipped with basic exegetical strategies to understand Scripture and will be challenged to apply the truths of Scripture to their personal lives and contemporary situations.

  • Introduction to Christian Doctrines is the foundational unit of Planetshakers College. It teaches a strong understanding for students to grow in their faith. Come discover what the Bible has to say about God, Creation and the Fall, the nature of humanity, angels and demons, the atonement and resurrection of Christ and much more.

  • Introduction to Christian Leadership is a unit focused on self-leadership and personal discipleship. Students are taught spiritual disciplines, character integrity and basic self and small group leadership principles to equip them to serve the Church in greater capacity. This unit also covers the traits and behaviours of Biblically sound leadership, how to identify leaders in the real world and in turn, how to develop oneself as a leader.

  • This subject gives the student 100 hours of ministry experience across their local church setting.  This unit will build important skills regardless of which vocation students plan to pursue. This subject requires oversight from the referring church in order to provide a mentor for the student.

  • Transformational Leadership teaches students how to apply basic leadership principles in a variety of Ministry and workplace environments. Covering topics like Natural Vs. Spiritual Leadership, the Art of Delegating and the Sacrifices of Leadership, students will learn practical skills as well as the theory behind leadership principles. The unit culminates in a panel with a variety of established leaders, to ensure students are learning what is used in workplaces today.

  • Basics of Pastoral Preaching is a unit which equips students with the tools to develop their communication skills. Not only do students learn about the art of preaching but they are given the tools to differentiate between skill and operating under the anointing. Students learn to tailor sermons in response to a variety of contexts and operate with the Holy Spirit in delivering the Gospel message. Basics of Pastoral Preaching is assessed by delivering a testimony, a sermon and a speech.

  • This unit is a central part of the Diploma of Leadership at Planetshakers College and deals with our Pentecostal distinctives and philosophy of ministry. Students will study and prepare assessments about the Holy Spirit, but more than that, students will be trained to operate in the miraculous gifts of the Spirit. Each lecture and tutorial have both a scriptural and a practical component which will encourage students to grow in their understanding of the Move of the Spirit in an environment of encounter.

Associate Degree in Theology + Ministry

This course will build on your knowledge from your first year as you take a deeper theological approach to the Christian Faith. This course will cover areas such as Ecclesiology, Biblical Studies, Christian Theology and Ministry Development.

By the end of your Second Year at iSEE COLLEGE, you can expect to have:​

  • A strong understanding of Church History and the centrality and role of Jesus throughout scripture. 

  • An opportunity to serve your local church as part of our Ministry Placement. 

  • An appreciation for Christian Ethics within the context of non-Christian worldviews.

  • Experienced a Cross-Cultural missions trip.

SUBJECT OUTLINES

  • Early Church History traces Christian history from Christ, to the birth of the Pentecostal movement. While students are being introduced to the rich history and tradition of the Christian Church, they will focus on the heroes and villains of the faith. This subject is also intended to impart a deeper knowledge of Pentecostal heritage as well. Students will learn; key figures in the Christian Church; doctrinal disputes; the creeds; the reformation and various renewal movements within modern Church history.

  • In this unit we examine a variety of hermeneutical methods, with specific focus on the hermeneutical principles involved with interpretation and application in 21st century ministry contexts. Some of the topics we look at include; Online Word Study Tools, Good vs Bad Interpretation, Memorising Scripture, Use of the Old Testament in the New, Holy Spirit and the Word of God and many more.

  • In Pentateuch, students will take a deep dive into the first 5 books of the Bible. This unit looks at the culture and customs of the day, while also exploring heroes of the faith, like Abraham and Moses. This unit will equip students in their exegesis of the Bible, by providing a strong understanding of the Law, and of God’s heart for His people.

  • This course unit develops a comprehensive introduction to the practice of Christian Spirituality and focuses on its biblical, theological and historical foundations from a particular Christian perspective.

  • Explores the realm of Christology and Soteriology. Students will develop an in-depth understanding of the trinity; the person and nature of Christ and the work of the cross. This class expands on the orthodox theology presented in Introduction to Christian Doctrines in the Diploma of Leadership and takes students to a deeper level.

  • Is a subject which teaches students how to think about making ethical decisions through various ethical frameworks. Students will be exposed to several ethical frameworks and their strengths and weaknesses, learn to think critically through them and assess their usefulness in a given scenario. This unit will teach students to consider their Christian ethic and how it answers the various contemporary issues in the 21st Century.

  • Arguably the apex of Pauline thought, not to mention the New Testament theology, the letter to the Romans offers the clearest and fullest teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is an exegetical unit that will give students deeper insights into the historical situation of 1st century Christianity, the problems facing the emerging gentile church and the enduring truth of the Christian message.

  • Is the second of two serving subjects and expands upon Supervised Ministry 1. This unit places our students in the activity of their local church. It enables them to volunteer one day a week as part of their internship and develop the skills needed to best serve your church. This subject formalizes the internship aspect of their Associate Degree and keeps their work practical. Serving for this subject may include; pastoral care; creative ministry; youth ministry; kids ministry; church conferences or anything that your church has a need for.

Course Prerequisites: Completion of Diploma of Leadership (First Year) or equivalent.

This course builds on your knowledge from your first and second years of study. This course will cover areas such as Ecclesiology, Theology, Biblical Studies and Ministry Development. 

By the end of your third year at iSEE COLLEGE, you can expect to have: ​

  • A foundational understanding of New Testament Greek language.

  • A repertoire of advanced Exegetical Tools to help you understand and interpret books of the bible.

  • Experienced a Cross-Cultural missions trip. 

Bachelor of
Theology

SUBJECT OUTLINES

  • Learn the Vocabulary and Grammar of New Testament Greek that will take your personal Bible study, preaching and exegesis of the New Testament to the next level. Taken together over a full year, these two units are designed to take a student who has no knowledge of Greek to being able to read, translate and understand passages in the Greek New Testament.

  • In this unit we look at John’s gospel and the three Johannine epistles, where we receive an intimate perspective on the life of Christ and its personal impact on our lives. Within the fourth gospel we find some of the most profound theological statements concerning the person of Christ. The opening chapters tell of the logos, the Word who became flesh, God among us. These bold statements are echoed in the words of Jesus Himself, proclaiming His divinity with the“I Am” statements.

  • Equips students to give a reasoned defence of the Christian faith and engage in dialogue on matters of faith with authority and confidence. In particular this unit examines contemporary Atheist critiques of Christianity and helps students build a more robust and defensible faith. This unit provides basic yet vital tools for defending the Faith in the 21st century.

  • The book of Revelation is considered to be one of the most interesting yet confusing books of the Bible. In this subject, students will learn the various perspectives on the book of Revelation, and be equipped to form their own understanding.

  • Martin Luther is known as a key leader in the Protestant Reformation. This unit will teach students the key players of the Protestant Reformation, and the beliefs that set them apart. Students will learn various topics including Martin Luther’s 95 Theses, and the differences between Calvinist and Arminian perspectives.

  • This unit is all about the Holy Spirit. Who He is and what He does. It involves theological readings and Biblical study to articulate and defend a Pentecostal theology of the Holy Spirit, but more importantly a significant portion of the class time is devoted to practice: waiting on God and participating in the move of the Spirit. Expect signs and wonders. Expect to prophesy. Expect to be filled. Expect to be hungry. Anything can happen!

  • This unit will allow students to explore a ministry topic of their choosing. With support from College staff, students create an initiative to cause a positive impact on their society, through their chosen ministry. Students will endeavour that this projects have lasting changes, that go beyond their degree.

Course prerequisites: Completion of a Diploma of Leadership and Associates Degree in Ministry (First & Second Year) or equivalent.

Short Courses

Short Courses are designed for students to sit through our live lectures and participate in College Life without completing the assessment aspect of studying.

Students participating in short-courses for the first time are required to choose subjects from our First Year Program. Short Course Fees and further information can be found here.
